This new series called Mixology (well, as you can guess from the name), will be all about… mixes! More precisely it will be about collecting and re-posting some of the best and/or most interesting mixes by Japanese DJs – both internationally acclaimed and lesser known – that pop up all over the Internet… on soundcloud, mixcloud, youtube and so on.
And let’s start with a DJ and producer who was already mentioned here, at Japan Vibes: Iori. Especially as the recent review of the Okinawa native’s latest album, Cold Radiance was mostly about how different it is from his usual style, so let’s see now what his “usual style” sounds like. Both as a DJ and producer, he is known for his dark, brooding, but still very groovy minimal and dub techno, as perfectly displayed in this mix, that he did for Invite’s podcast series. It was published just a bit more than a month ago, in early July, but if someone in Europe wants to catch Iori live… you will have chance to do so soon, as he will be touring the continent during Autumn!
