Qujaku teams up with IMPATV for a very special UK tour in November
It was already announced earlier, actually just before their summer tour, that Qujaku will return to the UK again in November for a very special set of shows: this time they will team up with Salford based visual art crew IMPATV and the concerts will feature special projection, lighting and costumes to grant a unique experience. Back in July IMPATV created a music video for In Neutral, the title track off the band’s most recent EP, so that might give a glimpse of what to expect from the shows:
Also, the visuals will be heavily influenced by Japanese aesthetics: “Developed during a residency in Japan in June 2019, this new production explores ideas of duality. Sound triggers light that in turn creates form via an amalgam of heavy, rhythmic ambience combined with visual projections, lighting and stage design. The resulting union will unfurl as an expansive spectacle to stimulate the senses.” “An audio-visual collaboration between Japanese psych band Qujaku and UK visual artists IMPATV. In Japanese Zen practice, the Ensō symbol is a circle that is hand-drawn in one or two uninhibited brushstrokes to express a moment when the mind is free to let the body create. The sone is a unit of loudness, how loud a sound is perceived. The title Ensō Sone therefore expresses a freedom to create loudness, which marks the starting point for this collaboration. Further ideas of oneness, natural opposites and equilibrium, the spirit of harmonious cooperation, the visible and the invisible, absolute fullness in emptiness, simplicity, completeness, and endlessness shall be explored. The resulting marriage of Qujaku’s music and IMPATV’s visuals shall unfurl into an all-encompassing display for the senses.” (as quoted from IMPATV’s facebook)
